Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to perform workplace plant and equipment inspections in road transport terminal operations.It includes inspecting plant and equipment, monitoring and applying basic maintenance and maintaining records as per workplace procedures and regulatory requirements.Work is performed under limited supervision.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Inspect plant and equipment
  • Plant and equipment are inspected routinely in accordance with manufacturers' specifications, workplace procedures and regulatory requirements
       
Element: Identified issues and damage are reported to relevant person/s in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
       
Element: Compliance plate on equipment and load chart plate on plant are checked to ensure they are legible and any issues are reported to relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Monitor and carry out basic maintenance to plant and equipment
  • Sundry items on plant and equipment are checked and defective items are rectified and reported as required to relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Plant and equipment requiring service or repair are identified and reported to relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturers' specifications
       
Element: Maintain records on plant and equipment
  • Plant and equipment maintenance information is recorded in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
       
Element: Records are clear and accurate and kept up to date in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Records are secured and accessed in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Registration and insurance is current and appropriate for the plant and equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures

Assessment Tasks
